Thanks to the unremitting efforts in practices and researches, RUC Online Education has consecutively developed nearly 200 online courses in the nine subjects of its program including Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Business Administration, International Trade, Finance & Taxation, law , Chinese Language & Literature and Public Affairs Administration. With a number of well-known professors from Renmin University of China and other colleges and universities as the lecturers, these Web-based multimedia courses are developed and fabricated by an online curriculum development team consisting of subject experts, educational technologists , software developers as well as professionals of a variety of fields. Integrating multiple media including video, audio, text, animation and pictures, these courses adopted a variety of new interaction models and the Internet and “meta-disc” technologies to assure real-time updating of the Course Contents.


I.Online Curriculum Plan

The instructional of RUC Online Education is prepared in a precise and scientific manner and in strict accordance with the processes of investigation and data analysis, draft preparation, expert consulting & justification, revision and implementation. The instructional planning for the subjects in operation are adjusted every year and scientific and reasonable development plans are established based on the ability of curriculum development and fabrication.

III.Key Formats of Online Courses

Taking advantage of the rich, sharable, open, independent and individualized resources of modern online education, Online RUC has developed 12 different formats for its online courses, and launched the inquiry learning platform and the case-based instruction platform.

1. Basic Model  The basic model of online course presentation adopts a relatively concise way of teaching presentation mainly in the form of lectures, based on which the other models of presentation are designed and developed.

2.Demonstration-based Model  This model of presentation, which is applicable to courses designed for practical applications and operations, is designed to demonstrate the related tests and operations to help the students get an objective understanding of the relationship between theories and practical operations and master the operating skills.

3.Slide-based Model  The main contents of courses that have rich contents and large quantities of complicated knowledge points are fabricated into slides for a clear presentation of the key clues.

4.Interactive Animation Model  This model of presentation affords different effects through different operations and achieves a wonderful human-machine interaction in the course of teaching.

5.Scene Simulation Model True work and life scenes are simulated in the forms of question-and-answer and scene interchange to enhance the pertinence of the instruction and help the students convert themselves from “the educated” to “the participant”.

6.Case-based Interaction Model  Different analysis conclusions are provided to the students to select at will with respect to the various alternative possible solutions to the issues raised in the cases so as to help the students have a deep understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of the different solutions and enhance their overall elaborative faculty.

7.Text-plus-Picture Model This model of presentation is mainly applicable to the presentation of the literature courses, which are linked to a large quantity of pictures and masterpieces to help the students enhance their accomplishments in literature and art in addition to the literary knowledge.

8 Multimedia Integration Model This model of presentation integrates pictures, music, movie clips and other media to present the content of the courses.

9.Electronic Whiteboard Model  The whiteboard function of the MST software is applied to keep track of the lectures given by the teachers for courses requiring process demonstration.

10.Case-based Instruction Model As a trinity model of presentation that realizes the integration of “case, subject and textbook”, this model is mainly supported by the “case-based instruction platform”, on which the students carry out the learning process comprising of theoretical study, communication & discussion and case analysis.

11.Inquiry Learning Model The inquiry learning model, guided by the theory of inquiry learning, enables the student groups to learn through in-group and inter-group mutual help. Supported by the “inquiry learning platform”, the students can carry out the learning processes of topic selection, acquisition of the related theoretical knowledge, submission of the periodical research results and investigation and discussion. s

12.Lecture-based Model  This is a model of presentation that affords live lectures presented by means of student participation on subjects that the students are interested in. Such lectures are made public to the students and the off-campus learners via the "Online RUC Forum".


IV. Online Curriculum Evaluation

In order to assure an objective, impartial and reasonable evaluation over the resources of online curriculum, Online RUC has formulated various standards and specifications for the online curriculum evaluation, which covers a number of processes including evaluation of teacher resources, strict quality auditing over the instructional planning prepared and lectures given by the teaching faculty, evaluation of knowledge system updating as well as students' feedbacks on the learning quality.
